About

There’s nothing like writing about yourself in the third person.

Soon after becoming a mom, Erica Rich realized it was go-time. She had earned degrees in film and business. She had clocked thousands of hours on TV sets, in editing bays, and movie studio conference rooms. That wasn’t cutting it anymore. So she set out to entertain audiences who really mattered to her: kids. These days, she writes funny and warm middle grade and picture books, often featuring strong and spunky girl characters. And food. Erica likes writing about food. Eating it, too. Enough of this bio, who’s up for a snack?

Two of Erica’s manuscripts have been recognized at the SCBWI-LA Writers Day Contests. Captain Crank won the picture book category in 2021. Roxy Steps Up was the second runner-up in 2020.

Erica is a member of SCBWI, the Children’s Media Association, and the world’s greatest critique group. She lives in Los Angeles, California.
